Our maritime connectivity team recently received an urgent ‘Please Help Me’ call from a global shipping company that had switched to Starlink for all its global connectivity and then realised that the service doesn’t provide connectivity in some areas - most notably around China and Taiwan.
At first sight, this seems a controversial question. And, in some respects, it is. Roaming is simply the service by which your devices can connect to networks in other countries. If you are a traveller, you want to connect your handset to do the same things you do when at home. If you are shipping devices around the world, you need them to be able to connect to any network. In both cases, roaming fees may be charged.
Intermodal Europe is the continent’s “leading event for container shipping and intermodal transport”. It’s taking place in Amsterdam next week and Telecom26’s team will be out in force talking about the importance of fast and reliable maritime connectivity to today’s global shipping market.
Critical communications and devices rely on quality-based steering and real-time business intelligence.
3 October 2023 - We are delighted to announce that Telecom26 has integrated the award-winning Cellusys Steering of Roaming system into our operational stack to support key global enterprise customers, many of which rely on cellular connectivity for business-critical communications.
In October Telecom26’s CEO Nicola Berardocco and Pietro Cotino our International Roaming Manager, will be attending a meeting of the GSMA’s Wholesale Agreements and Solutions Group (WAS). WAS is responsible for operator-to-operator and operator-to-hub interoperability (including interworking and roaming) to provide GSMA members with a consistent, reliable GSM service to offer their customers.
Our IoT connectivity team regularly read the reports written by Beecham Research, a consultancy which has been tracking the global IoT market for years and produces regular reports aimed at “improving the success rate of IoT projects, both across the IoT market and in individual sectors”. Its Succeed with IoT series is well worth a browse both for those who are well down their IoT path and others who are just getting started.
