Senior Backend Software Engineer, 100% in Zug

Summary

We are looking for enterprise software developers to help us build mobile telecom provisioning, data-processing and analytic services. The position will entail developing in Golang and/or Python, using relational and non-relational databases, and deploying in a Linux-based micro-services architecture.

Candidates should have 7+ years of relevant experience.

Technical Skills

Candidates should have deep understanding / extensive experience in the general software engineering areas of:

  • Building client-server applications, to include defining protocols, handling errors, security (e.g. encryption), and testing
  • Designing reusable APIs to include both library APIs and exposed web services APIs (REST, gRPC, etc.)
  • Use of message-bus architectures and message queue implementations
  • Relational database schema design and implementation
  • Horizontal scaling / concurrency via threads, non-blocking, actors, distributed worker processes, etc.
  • System performance analysis and tuning

Candidates should have significant experience with the following technologies / in these technical areas:

  • Linux system usage and administration, to include tracing problems in network stack or system utilization, package management, etc.
  • Container image development (e.g. Docker) + container orchestration (Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, AWS ECS)
  • Building micro-services in Golang or Python (ideally both)

Candidates should have experience with:

  • Micro-service architectures
  • Structured logging, Elasticsearch, Kibana
  • Build frameworks, continuous integration tools
  • Source control (git), collaboration tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence)

Preference given to candidates who have:

  • Listed examples of open-source work (e.g. github accounts)
  • Experience with both Golang and Python
  • Experience with container (e.g. Docker) build and deployment
  • Experience with container orchestration (e.g Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, AWS ECS)
  • Experience with PostgreSQL

Mobile Network Engineer (m/f), 100% in Zug

Place of work: Zug / Home Office: Hybrid / Remote location: optional

Key responsibilities

  • Participate on the implementation teams for turn up of mobile network elements
  • Management and sustainment of mobile network
  • Provide next-level support to the customer care team
  • Act as a support contact with mobile operator partners and vendors
  • Execute technical tasks to support the core network engineers
  • Infrequent international travel required

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in engineering discipline. Additional coursework in telecommunications related areas desirable
  • Have 3-5 years of experience in telecommunications focusing on two or more of the following areas:
    • 3G and 4G core network elements
    • Protocol and technology knowledge including SS7/Diameter, SIGTRAN, SMPP and SIP
    • Familiarity with IMS and VoLTE
    • VAS/Messaging platforms (SMSC, MMSC, VMS, etc.)
    • Knowledge of message flows in a roaming environment
    • Providing mobile support to wholesale customers
  • Good understanding of Linux
  • Ability to support installation, testing and commissioning of new network elements and new features on existing network elements
  • Willingness to work off-shift to support upgrades, maintenance
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with experience using Wireshark, tcpdump, and other network diagnosis/monitoring tools
  • Self-reliance - the candidate must know how to independently find solutions to difficult problems
  • Passionate about maintaining a positive customer experience
  • Strong communicator in both spoken and written forms
  • Personality/character
