28 September 2024 – Independent, global mobile operator Telecom26 today announced that it has added Threema’s secure messaging service to its portfolio of global mobile data connectivity services for organisations who value the privacy of their business travellers – and need the highest levels of data protection for their devices.
US-based market research company Forrester recently published a comprehensive comparison of 12 secure communications solutions and recognised Threema as a leader in the market.
Threema’s messaging app is already trusted by +8.000 business customers including hospital, hotels, Government departments, military and the Police, and companies of all sizes – such as Mercedez-Benz, Edeka, Emirates, RWE, Swiss Alpine Rescue, Stadt Frankfurt am Mai, Stiwa and the Swiss Army.
For Telecom26’s existing and potential customers, Threema is now offered as part of a commercial bundled solution of global connectivity, enterprise features and messaging which are all highly secure.
Threema’s secure messaging app supports IM, voice, video and file sharing, and more.
Nicola Berardocco, CEO of Telecom26, said: “Since WhatsApp announced that the data of its subscribers would be shared with its sister platforms of Instagram, Messenger and Facebook for marketing purposes, many organisations have looked for alternatives. Telegram and Signal are also well-known messaging apps for consumers but for businesses far greater security and the comfort of never being held hostage by another global corporation are needed.
The global mobile data connectivity team at Telecom26 is constantly researching how we can make our networks even more secure from cyber criminals. As a fellow Swiss company, Threema has been on our radar for a while; its messaging app has been built from the ground up with data protection and privacy in mind (Privacy by Design), and we are delighted to be able to provide it to our customers”.
Threema messaging app
The Threema app is easy for users to download onto their devices from the major app stores with a desktop version also available. It provides:
- Enhanced security: end-to-end encryption means that no-one other than the intended recipient can read transmitted messages, not Telecom26, not Threema
- Enhanced privacy features: Threema can be used completely anonymously, i.e., without disclosing one’s phone number or email address
- Improved customer trust and satisfaction
- A fully GDPR-compliant service; Threema hosts its own servers in Switzerland and, unlike US services (which are subject to the CLOUD Act, for example), is fully GDPR-compliant
- A Management Portal so that features can be managed centrally for business users
Telecom26 has worked with Martin Sedó, Partner Manager at Threema, to deliver this new service to our customers. Martin said:
"We are delighted to partner with Telecom26, a leader in global connectivity solutions. This collaboration allows us to expand the reach of Threema's secure messaging services to a global audience. Together, we are setting a new standard for privacy and security in telecommunications, providing customers with a secure communications tool, substantially reducing cybercriminals’ surface attacks”.
