IoT in 2025 so far: What’s Changing and What’s Accelerating?

From hybrid connectivity models to the rise of private 5G networks, the industry is clearly shifting toward more resilient, scalable, and globally manageable solutions. At @Telecom26, these trends reflect what we're seeing every day across our global customer base, spanning maritime, healthcare, pharma, and industrial deployments.
A Key Shift: The Emergence of SGP.32
One standout development in 2025 is the growing adoption of GSMA’s SGP.32 — a next-generation remote SIM provisioning (RSP) specification purpose-built for constrained IoT devices with no screens, minimal power, and long deployment cycles.
SGP.32 promises:
- Remote profile switching without operator approval
- Simplified compliance with localisation regulations
- Secure onboarding and lifecycle management, even in-field
But while it's a leap forward, SGP.32 isn’t a plug-and-play solution. It requires the right supporting strategy, infrastructure, and commercial model.
